Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, producing powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.

Homeowners reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that different parts across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential anticipated across multiple regions of both areas.
