Revitalized Medvedev Secures First Title in Over Two Years

Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
