It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to possess a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and a priceless quality in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
